Brown sugar, WY tablets seized; three held

Imphal, November 09 2022:
Troopers of 5 Assam Rifles reportedly apprehended one Kaichunngnung (27) son of Zamtinthang of Phailien village in Churachandpur district, along with 1.78 kg of brown sugar and 815g of WY tablets at a mobile vehicle check post under Moreh police station on Wednesday.
According to police, a case has been registered at Moreh police station for further investigation.
On the other-hand, a team of NAB police station arrested two men with 1.015 kg of suspected brown sugar from Yairipok Khoirom area around 1.45pm on Tuesday.
The two have been identified as Thangneo Vaiphei (35) s/o Ginlian Vaiphei of Khomunnom village (Horton Vaiphei village), Kangpokpi and Leppu Vaiphei (35) s/o Mangneo Sontak of Nongmaiching Tampak (Haochong village).
According to a police report, the team was carrying out frisking and checking operation in Yairipok Khoirom area leading to Kasom in Thoubal district around 1.45 pm on Tuesday.
During the operation, Thangneo and Lenpu, who were coming on a Kenbo bike 125 was halted for checking and arrested with the drugs.
In this regard, NAB PS has registered a case against the two arrested men and obtained remand for 15 days in police custody for further interrogation.
