Seminar on Nepali language organised

Imphal, November 09 2022:
Nepali Sahitya Parishad (NSP) Manipur organised a one-day International Seminar on 'Nepali/Gorkhali Language and its Literature' at Kanglatongbi community hall on Wednesday.
The seminar was attended by well-known writer, philosopher and Tribhuwan University, Kathmandu Department of English Prof Govindaraj Bhattarai as chief guest, NSP president Bhawani Adhikari as functional president and renowned writer from Assam Gyan Bahadur Chhetri as guest of honour, while Prof Anjana Wasti Bhattarai, Narayan Fuyel, Mukti Baral, Padam Oli, Kumar Koirala, Kamalraj Bhattarai, Prof Bishnu Prasad Singh Rai and Laxman Viyogi were present as special guests.
Presidents/secretaries, representatives from different Manipur-based Gorkha organisations including Gorkha Welfare Union Manipur, All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union, Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh Manipur Branch, Nepali Sanskriti Suraksha Parishad Manipur, Damai Samaj, All Manipur Gorkha Ex-Servicemen Association Manipur, Gorkha Samaj-Ukhrul, Gorkha Samaj-Senapati, women societies, MGYA, youth clubs, MIL Nepali students and teachers of various schools of Manipur also attended the event.
NSP Manipur also mentioned that troupes from Pangei Nepali Basti and Charhajare performed Manipuri and Gorkha cultural dances during the programme.
A Gorkhali/Nepali poets' meet was also held wherein Ghanashyam Koirala, Sita Devi Chhetri, Subash Limbu, Suraj Chapagain, Nirmala Rajkumari, L Sonia, Devi Prasad Thapa Mama recited their respective poems.
Altogether, five Nepali/ Gorkhali language literary books including 'Unmukta Udan' (anthology of essays) by Bhawani Adhikari, 'Smritikaa Paailaaharu' (memoir) by NSP treasurer Basanti Paudyal, 'Samjana ko Goretoma chhabis Pailaharu' (memoir) by Kamalraj Bhattarai of Damak Jhapa, Nepal; 'Smritika chha Thuga Upahar' (memoir) by Padam Oli of Damak Jhapa and 'Kehi Navin Kriti Samixaa' (criticism) by Narayan Fuyel of Damak Jhapa, were also released during the event.
