Myanmarese man arrested with fake Aadhaar card

Imphal, November 09 2022:
A 26-year-old Myanmarese national, who illegally entered Manipur using the Aadhaar card of a deceased person, was arrested along with a person who assisted him on November 7 .
The arrested Myanmarese national has been identified as Lenkhenmang Mate (26) son of Doujatong Mate of Tuivang village, Myanmar, and the person who assisted him as Letminthang Baite (30) son of Ngamlet Baite of Charongching village.
The "Myanmarese entered Manipur using the Aadhaar card of late Holkholal (38) son of Tongkhotahang of Khenjang village.
Speaking to media persons in this regard at the 1st MR Officers' Club, here, on Wednesday, DIG (intelligence) Ningshen Worngam informed that 37 AR Shalluk post apprehended Lenkhenmang Mate and Letminthang Baite from Kuljang on November 7 and handed them over to Chakpikarong police station.
Upon investigation, it was.
found that Lenkhenmang is a Myanmarese national and has been impersonating as Holkholal, who passed away in May, 2019 using the latter's Aadhaar card.
Moreover, Letmingthang Bate helped Lenkhenmang in the latter's illegal cross border trading.
In this regard, Chakpikarong police station has registered an FIR under relevant section of IPC and Foreigners Act.
The two accused were produced before the court of CJM, Chandel, which remanded them in police custody for eight days for further investigation, the DIG informed, while appealing to all citizens not to aid or abet foreign nationals in entering the state or the country.
Such abetment/aiding is an offence punishable under the law of the land, he cautioned.
