AMUCO raises safeguard future call

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang has categorically stated that contemporary Manipur is in a very difficult position with alien culture and goods from outside dominating the State.
He appealed to every Manipuri to take a firm stand to safeguard the future of the State.
Addressing the 15th foundation day of Singjamei to Lilong United Clubs' Organization (SLUCO) at Thongju Pheijaleitong today, Nando continued that foreign goods and culture of others flood the State today as "we ignore our history and custom" .
Saying that Manipuris who were once known for their valour are now demanding rights for reservation, the AMUCO president maintained that there is minimal sense of work culture among the majority of the present generations.
Nando further stated that the younger generation must be taught the way of life of 'our ancestors' .
National Research Centre (NRC) president Thongam Ajit said that the culture of people assembling to discuss the issues of the State is quite minimal, urging the local clubs to play a central role in safeguarding the State.
Saying that drug issue, lapses in education sector and distortion of history are some one of the biggest threats besieging the State today, Ajit expressed desire for the local clubs to extend assistance in solving the issues.
During the programme, several meritorious students were also feted.
