Draft poll rolls released; 20,43,156 voters in state

As per the schedule fixed by Election Commission of India, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) released the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls of all the 60 assembly constituencies of the state on Wednesday.
With the addition of 9,000 new voters, the total number of adult franchisees in the state has reached 20,43,156.Speaking to media persons in connection with the release of draft photo electoral rolls and launch of Special Summary Revision (SSR), 2023 at Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office, Lamphelpat, here, CEO Rajesh Agrawal informed that the total number of voters in the state include 10,54,245 males, 9,88,704 females and 207 third gender.
In the draft publication, gender ratio is 1066, elector-population ratio 56.4 and total number of polling stations is 2,955 .
He continued that during the month-long SSR to be conducted till December 8, eligible voters who are yet to be included in electoral roll can register and also make claim or raise objection for necessary corrections.
As a part of SSR, BLOs will be in their respective polling stations to conduct special campaign on November 19 and 20 and December 3 and 4.Moreover, voters can do all the required rectifications by visiting the polling station or submit the application form through online.
Those who will attain the age of 18 years on January 1, April 1, Julyl and October 1, 2023, can submit application for inclusion in the voter list.
ERO will enroll the voters when they reach the cut-off date, CEO added.
While informing that Aadhaar cards of 74 per cent of the voters have been collected, Rajesh Agrawal expressed hope that the remaining voters will submit their Aadhaar card to the respective BLOs.
In order to notify voters about election related information, initiative to collect mobile number of the voters is being planned.
However, it is not mandatory even if the ECI instructed to launch a drive for collection of mobile numbers.
Three Electoral Roll Observers have been appointed for looking into the activities of SSR, he stated.
Election Commission of India led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey launched the national-wide programme of the Special Summary Revision (SSR2O23) on Wednesday.
Similarly, Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur and Manipur University registrar flagged off a walkathon from Manipur University Gate to Kakwa Bazar under the theme of A step for Participative Elections', organised in connection with the nation-wide launch Of Special Summary Revision 2023.A meeting with all recognised national & state political parties was held wherein they were briefed about the schedule of Special Summary Revision, 2023.Cooperation was sought from all political parties for enrolling all the eligible citizens.
Further, a printed copy of the Draft Electoral Rolls of each assembly constituency and another copy in DVD-ROM were handed over to the recognised national and state political parties free of cost.
With the sole objective of giving maximum awareness to the electors, a new "THE TREND" campaign under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation has been launched.
To create more awareness, five state icons from diverse fields have been identified at the state level and started engaging them for various awareness activities.
Awareness hoardings and posters of SSR-2023 have been put up at strategic locations, the CEO added.
