Draft electoral rolls released

As decided by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), draft photo electoral rolls for 60 Assembly Constituencies of Manipur have been released today.
General public/electors and representatives of political parties can inspect and verify the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls at the offices of the electoral registration officers/assistant electoral registration officers and with all the booth level officers (BLOs) at their respective polling stations.
They can also visit CEO Manipur's website https://ceomaniour.nic.in to inspect the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls.
Launching the draft photo electoral rolls at the conference hall of the Chief Electoral Officer Manipur, CEO Rajesh Agrawal said a month-long Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2023 based on the released draft photo electoral rolls will be conducted till December 8 .
After meeting representatives of political parties on the matter of Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2023, they have been provided copies of the draft photo electoral rolls, he said.
During the one month revision period, booth level officers will be present at their respective polling stations on November 9, November 20, December 3 and December 4 .
On these days, eligible voters may register and make necessary corrections.
In addition, one can also download National Voter Portal Helpline application and upload documents for making changes in the electoral rolls.
During the revision period, Aadhaar of voters will be collected.
A campaign which was launched in August last year collected Aadhaar of more than 75 percent of voters in Manipur.
Of the total voters in the State, Aadhaars of 15,00,000 voters have been collected.
Voters who have not yet submitted their Aadhaar details may submit the same through their boot level officers concerned, he said.
During the summary revision, mobile/phone numbers of voters will also be collected and updated.
However, phone/mobile number is not mandatory.
Nonetheless, updating mobile numbers will ease the election commission in disseminating information in times of elections to the voters better, he said.
As per amendment in the Peoples' Representation Act and changes in the Election Commission guidelines, those who are to become eligible voters (attain the age of 18) between 2023 January 1 and 2023 October 1 can register during the summary revision.
As per the draft photo electoral released today, Manipur has a total voter of 20,43,156 .
This figure exceeds the total voters in January 2022 by 9,000 .
During the revision, electoral registration officers of the Constituencies will be supervised by the district election officers concerned.
Further, three IAS officers of the rank of Commissioner cum Secretary have been appointed as Electoral Roll Officers.
The three officers are Commissioner cum Secretary (Agriculture) RK Dinesh, Commissioner cum Secretary (Art and Culture/MAHUD/IPR) M Joy, Commissioner cum Secretary (Science and Technology) M Yaiskul.
As electoral roll observers, the three officers will supervise the electoral registration officers, district election officers of three to 5 districts, he said.
