NCP releases poll manifesto, vows to revoke AFSPA

Imphal, February 06 2022:
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) released its Election Manifesto-2022 along with the second list of candidates for the 12th Ma-nipur Legislative Assembly Election, during a function held at the party's Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal office on Sunday.
The manifesto was released by party's national secretary and spokesperson Narendra Verma in the presence of state unit president Soram Iboyaima and party's candidates.
It includes assurances of complete revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1985 and ushering in huge changes in the state; preventing allocation of agricultural resources in other sectors and encour aging utilisation of the latest technologies in agriculture; protection of forests; enhancing connectivity, revival of the state transport organisations and standardisation of state and national highways; upgrading Imphal International Airport to a world class facility; formulation of a new public health policy; taking up activities for development of the state's industrial sector; regularisation of social security system including public distribution system/food security system; formulation of strict set of rules for ILPS in context of state security; declaring the-state as a foreign trade centre, not less than special economic zone; guaranteeing the rights of women from local bodies to assembly and up to the parliament as part of women empowerment; and formation of a transparent and accountable government.
Meanwhile, the second list of NCP candidates was announced.
Accordingly, Y Nilachandra will be fielded as party candidate from Kakching AC and N Popilal from Sekmai AC.
It may be noted here that NCP had previously announced the names of 6 candidates.
