Imphal, February 06 2022:
Janata Sal (United) candidate Preshyojit Shanglakpam has alleged that some Congress workers, who under the instruction of Congress candidate Seram Neken, blocked htm from carrying out his door-to-dour house campaign in Polling Station 5/24 and 5/25 Singjamei Kshetri Leikai of Thongju AC.
Speaking to newspersons in this regard, Preshyojit recalled that he was prevented from carrying out his door-to-dour house campaign by some workers, claiming the locality to be Congress1 domain.
The workers also prevented movement of his vehicle while hurling abuses at the same time.
Stating that he undertook the house campaign as per the wishes of the mothers of the locality, the JD(U) candidate recalled that the mothers came out and stated that no one has the right to restrict another in a democracy.
However, the Congress workers turned on to the women and threatened them.
Taking into consideration of the tense situation and to prevent it from worsening further, he decided to leave the area with his workers.
Preshyojit continued: "When I joined Congress in 2018 to contest the Lok Sabha Polls, I campaigned for votes myself as there was none to do for him.
I stood tall against BJP on various occasions for Congress and worked to popularise Congress in Thongju AC".
Questioning how Congress candidate Seram Neken allowed his party workers to misbehave, Preshyojit demanded Neken to clarify whether he advised his workers to prevent the entry of other candidates into the locality.
