Imphal, February 06 2022:
JD-U candidate in Yaiskul assembly constituency Thounaojam Brinda has said that the 2022 state assembly election is a challenging one, especially for the youth as it will be an election to save the future of the youth of the society.
Addressing a public meeting held at Gopinath Mandop, Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai here on Sunday, Brinda said that this election will be a battle to save the future of the youth.
Money power is taking centre stage in the upcoming election as candidates are heavily investing in distribution of cash in order to secure votes.
Her rival candidates are even distributing cash to prevent the public from attending her meetings, she claimed and called upon the public to come out from this trap laid by those who have money and muscle power.
If they do not wriggle out of the trap, it is the youth who would be paying the price of this corrupt practice in future.
It is not only the responsibility of the youth but also of the elders to save the future of the youth and the future generations, she said.
No candidate will give cash that will be enough to survive for one month even and so selling the voting rights of five years for some mere cash would be a big blunder.
In fact, distribution of cash for votes is an act of looking down upon the people, seeing them as some cheap commodities, she said while urging the public not to fall into this trap.
The movement for saving the future of the state and its people should begin from somewhere and it should be from Yaiskul assembly constituency.
Once the constituency sets an example, the remaining 59 constituencies will follow suit.
The 2022 election will be the ultimate test for the fate and future of the indigenous people of the state.
Unless the public take a firm stand for their future, the state will land in the hands of outsiders, she cautioned, while assuring aggressive efforts with results to bring the much needed changes in the state if she is elected and gets a cabinet berth.
