Imphal, February 06 2022:
Contrary to the earlier understanding, none of the intending candidates in Uripok assembly constituency, who were denied BJP ticket, are supporting the party's candidate in the upcoming state assembly election, said Khumbongmayum Suresh, who is going to contest election from the constituency as JD-U candidate.
Speaking during a felicitation function organised in his honour by Awonba Uripok Kendra at Iroishemba on Sunday, Suresh maintained that BJP candidate has no hope of winning the election in Uripok AC.
None of the intending candidates, who were in the race for BJP ticket, including BJP chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy are supporting the BJP candidate.
The statement made by the party's chief spokesperson is a clear indication of corrupt practice by the party leadership in issuing ticket.
It was his fault to put trust on the party, he said.
On the other hand, the local MLA and deputy chief minister Y Joykumar did nothing to bring development in the constituency during his term.
He could not even ensure full provision of rice to the public and he is better known as three-kg-rice' Dy CM.
Maintaining that the 2022 election will be a close fight between BJP and JD-U, he called upon the people of the constituency to play their part in bringing development in Uripok and make it a model constituency.
