Birth anniv of MK Binodini celebrated

Many including literary organisations celebrated centennial birth anniversary of renowned writer Maharajkumari Binodini Devi on Sunday.
Leimarol Khorjeikhol (LEIKOL) began its year-long centennial birth anniversary celebration by organising a memorial lecture at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) hall on Sunday.
The memorial lecture was attended by Manipur State Women Commission former chairperson Prof Chongtham Jamini Devi as chief guest, LEIKOL president Ksh Subadant as president and Manipur University dean of humanities Prof Nahakpam Aruna as guest of honour.
LEIKOL's 21st edition magazine was also released on the occasion.
Speaking at the function, Ksh Subadani recalled the year-long centennial birth anniversary celebration of Kumari Thoibi Devi by LEIKOL previous year.
A similar year-longcelebration will also be organised for Mk Binodini.
The year-long celebration will include monthly seminar on Ima MK Binodini, symposium, book release, short story recitation and reading of songs, poems and essays about the departed woman Writer, she added.
Stating that centennial birth anniversary of Khaidem Pramodini also falls in 2022, Subadani said that LEIKOL will also celebrate the year-long centennial birth anniversary of the three renowned women writers commonly known as the three pillars (Yotshabi Makhong Ahum).
Prof Thoidingjam Tombi spoke on the topic 'MK Binodini amsung Art' at the memorial lecture.
Similar celebration was also organised by The Cultural Forum Manipur at Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum and Archives mini auditorium located at Old Assembly road.
The programme was attended by The Cultural Forum president Prof Huirem Bihari as functional president and Manipur University associate professor Dr Koijam Shantibala spoke on the topic 'Sahitya amasung Binodini' .
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Huirem Bihari recounted that MK Binodini took vital roles for the development of Manipuri literature.
MK Binodini was a multifaceted person and a visionary leader, Bihari praised, while adding that the late Binodini taught the people to love the motherland and also tried to uplift the status of women in the state.
Later, floral tributes were paid to the photo of MK Binodini as a mark of respect.
