Poll preparations in Jiri detailed

Jiribam, February 06 2022:
Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam district, W Malemnganba Chenglei, IAS, on Friday presented a detail report on the overall election preparedness in Jiribam district for the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, 2022 .
Addressing a press conference held the Conference Hall of DC Office in Chingdong Leikai, W Malenganba Chenglei informed that the final electoral roll had been published on January 5, 2022 which consists of 29,044 total registered electors, out of which 14,888 are males and 14,156 are females.
"There is a 6% increase in the number of registered voters in comparison with the electoral roll of 2021", he shared.
Touching upon the guidelines laid down by the Election Commission of India, he stated that candidates had been instructed not to use more than 2 vehicles while on their way to file their nomination papers and to only allow entry to two individuals.
Speaking about EVM randomization, he informed that the first round had been completed and that the second round of EVM randomization would be conducted on February 29 .
All polling personnel will be given three rounds of training.
Out of these 3 rounds, one has already been conducted and the two remaining training sessions will be conducted very soon, he stated.
Additional SP Jiribam, Emmanuel Fimate shared that the District Police, Jiribam has taken up all necessary measures in view of the ensuing election in cooperation with the District Administration.
He further informed that 8 companies of the Central Arm Police Force, CAPF alongwith one EVM home guard will be on duty during the election.
CAPF personnel will be stationed at critical areas and 2 companies had begun patrolling from January 22 to prevent the occurrence of unwanted incidents, he added.
With the goal of a peaceful election in mind, police personnel had also held meetings with CSOs and Clubs, Emmanuel Fimate said.
S Indrajit, SDO/RO, Jiribam addressed the media persons and said that the election notification for second phase of election has been announced on February 5, and with this candidates can begin filing their nomination.
He further shared several important dates during the press meet stating that the last date of filing nomination is February 11 and that of withdrawing candidature on February 16, scrutiny on February 14, date of poll on March 3, counting of polls on March 10 and closing of polls on March 16, 2022 .
He further shared that senior citizens will be provided with postal ballots to cast their cites and similar measures will be taken up for PWDs.
