Imphal, October 07 2021:
Shiv Sena Manipur will be fielding 30 candidates in the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, party convenor M Tombi has stated.
Speaking to newspersons before leaving for Mumbai on Thursday to attend a meeting with party leaders, Tombi confided that Shiv Sena Manipur plans to field 30 candidates in the upcoming election, of which 15 candidates have been finalised after sacrificing some seats for partners of the Manipur Democratic Alliance.
There is no plan for a pre-poll alliance with BJP or Congress but the party will extend full and unconditional support to the government formed after the polls, whether it is by BJP, Congress or a coalition.
Thus, an 8 -member team is leaving for Mumbai to discuss this election strategy in detail with party high command, along with other election-related activities.
For the first phase, the name of 12 candidates will be presented along with relevant reports for discussion.
Later, the team will leave for Delhi to meet.
Aam Aadmi leader and CM Arvind Kejriwal and Trinamool Congress leaders to invite them to Manipur for election campaign, he conveyed.
Urging all concerned not to make the upcoming election into some sort of festival, Tombi urged against organising feast and influencing the youth to indulge in merry-making.
Instead, we must strike to hold the election in a free and fair manner in accordance with ECI guidelines, he said.
"Truth to be told, the ruling government in Manipur is unable to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
However, Shiv Sena cannot tolerate the attempts of the opposition to make the country powerless.
Political parties should work together.
But it is unfortunate to witness political leaders ridiculing the CM.
If one wants to make a statement, he/she should do so by making an appeal and maintaining a sense of decorum.
This will also make the people respett politicians", he remarked.
