CCSO presents case to Kishan Reddy

Members of Collective of Civil Society Organisations (CCSO) met Union Minister of DoNER and Tourism G Kishan Reddy at New Delhi yesterday and drew the attention of the Government of India on immediate issues besieging the State.
CCSO is a joint body of IPSA, ACOAM-Lup, PANDM, IPAK, CLK, KANGLAMEI, KIL and KSA.
According to a statement of CCSO, the matters presented by the delegates before the Union Minister included the boundary issues between Manipur and Myanmar while Dr RK Ranjan is Union Minister of State for External Affairs and to initiate steps to equip the State youths with necessary skills with special focus on development and job avenue to be provided by the Act East Policy.
On ADC Bill, the team mentioned that the Manipur (Hill Areas) ADC Bill 2021 recently recommended by the Hill Areas Committee (HAC) needs amendment after thorough discussion with all stakeholders as certain points of the Bill are detrimental to the unity of the State.
The representatives also highlighted the minimal output of farm produce in the State due to high dependence on monsoon and bad irrigation facilities at the meeting, during which the Union Minister assured the team that the matter will be taken to the Union Water Resources Minister.
Saying that the delegates also urged the Union Minister to open a Visa centre at Imphal for the convenience of the people, the statement stated that G Kishan Reddy had assured of discussing the issues again in November at Imphal.
During the meeting, the team of 7 members also submitted a representation addressed to Prime Minister Narenda Modi, said CCSO.
