ECI holds meeting with district election officers

Imphal, October 07 2021:
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday conducted a video conference with all the district election officers (DEOs) of the state and officials of the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
During the conference, deputy election commissioner Nitesh Vyas discussed the status of poll preparedness and Special Summary Revision in the state as well as responsibilities of the DEOs in successful conduct of the election.
Among others issues discussed included refining of Electoral Rolls and EPIC related issues, rationalisation of polling stations, human resource, training of operation of EVMs and VVPATs, training of election manpower, election material, law & order and district specific issues during Legislative Assembly Election 2017 and enrolment of 18-21 age group voters, etc.
The DEOs highlighted issues and shortcomings faced by them in the preparation for the forthcoming election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly, 2022 to which the ECI assured maximum support and assistance for smooth conduct of the polls.
Nitesh Vyas also reminded that only medical certificates for people with disabilities (PwDs) will be necessary for application of postal ballots and emphasised on the significance of conducting Pre-FLCs (First Level Checking) .
Issues of related to condition of warehouses and strong rooms as well as intermediate strong rooms were also discussed along with expenditure sensitive matters.
The DEOs were further instructed to recover arms on time and to ensure provision of Assured Minimum Facility (AMF) in all the polling stations.
The video conference was attended by the CEO Rajesh Agrawal, additional CEO N Praveen, joint CEOs Ramananda Nongmeikapam and Daulat Khan, district DEOs and coordinator, permanent media cell & state nodal officer for media, Waikhom Phajatombi and officials concerned.
