AR, police recover heroin; two held

Imphal, October 07 2021:
Chandel Battalion of IGAR (S) recovered 5.2 kg of heroin approximately worth Rs 21 crore from near the Indo-Myanmar Border in Chandel district on Wednesday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the AR troops recovered the heroin from the jungles near Gamphazol village and handed over the same to Narcotics Control Bureau, Imphal for further action.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Phougakchao Ikhai police station and CDO Bishnupur seized 30 soap cases of heroin powder from two persons along Imphal-Churachandpur road around 7.30am on October 5 .
The two arrested along with the drugs have been identified as Md Atabur Konthamayum (35), son of Kasmal Ali of Kwakta Khuman ward no 4, and Md Abdul Rahman Sangomsumpham (33), son of (L) Md Naha Ibqthem of Kwakta Sevia Ward No 1 .
According to police, a team led by inspector Kh Rajen Kha Nganba along with CDO Bishnupur halted a suspicious looking Maruti Swift car (MN02C 0254) with two men inside for verification along the Imphal- Churachandpur road.
On further checking the vehicle, 30 soap cases containing suspected powder of heroin were seized.
The arrested men along with recovered items have been handed over to Moirang PS further investigation, it added.
