Mera Chaorel Houba celebrated across state

Mera Chaorel Houba, a religious festival of the followers of Sanamahi religion, was celebrated across the state by numerous organisations at different places including Utra Shanglen, Ima Leimarel Shidabi & Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen at Haying Khongbal Ufong Yumpham, Sanamahi Kiyong Laishang at Selloi Langmai Ching, and Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen, Lamsang.
In most places, the celebration began with Pena Yakairol followed by other religious rituals and events.
According to Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board vice president Wakhal Lamjingba (Bidyapati Senjam), Mera Chaorel Houba is an important religious festival of the Meeteis, which also marks the half-way milestone of the formation of human kind and the infusion of soul to the human body by the Creator.
It is also of great religious and historical significance for the Meeteis, he said.
The ritual at Utra Shanglen, Sana Konung was led by Angom Ningthou.
International Salai Punsipham organised the ritual, which also marks the Autumnal equinox, at Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen at Lamsang while the ritual at Sanamahi Kiyong was organised by Sanamahi Thougal.
Besides, several organisations conducted the ritual at their own capacity at different places.
