Imphal, October 11 2021:
Sanskar Bharati, Manipur Prant released a coffee table book, titled "Anirvachaniya" along with organising a cultural evening at the auditorium of JN Manipur Dance Academy here on Monday.
Speaking at chief guest of the event, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba pointed out that the northeast region including Manipur has a rich and diverse cultural' heritage and noted that although mainland India initially seemed to be a bit ignorant on the matter, the situation has improved significantly.
The MP said that although many laud the art and culture of the state, minimal efforts are being made towards the preservation of the art forms.
There is no consideration of the sufferings undergone by the artistes concerned, he remarked, while appreciating Sanskar Bharati for its efforts in preserving the culture, tradition and art forms of all states including Manipur.
Leishemba continued that PM Modi has been focusing on the north east region for quite some time, with the belief that the country cannot progress without developing the north east.
In this regard, PM Modi has issued strict instructions to the MPs and as such, the opportunity must not be allowed to go to waste, he said.
Assuring all possible help in preserving the various art forms of the state, the MP recalled that he had urged the parliament to upgrade Manipur University of Culture to a central university.
Consequently, the minister concerned has assured of taking up the matter in the Union Cabinet, he added.
Presided over by Sanskar Bharati Manipur Prant president Prof H Tombi, the event was attended by Sanskar Bharati All India general secretary Amirchand and JN Manipur Dance Academy director in-charge P Bilash as guests of honour.
