Sky Hospital MD recounts success tale

Sky Hospital & Research Centre managing director (MD) Dr L Shyamkishore has informed that the private hospital has so far conducted 176 open heart surgeries of patients having heart problem.
In connection with the 7th anniversary of the first open surgery & device closure-EPS plus RFA Performance conducted by the Centre, Dr Shyamkishore told media persons that the year 2015 could be taken as a remarkable year in the medical history of Manipur as it was in this year that Sky Hospital shouldered extraordinary responsibility in transforming heart care.
On November 18, 2015, Sky Hospital conducted open heart surgery for the first time and it was performed by hospital's chief heart surgeon Ajay, who along with another doctor closed hole in the heart of a girl patient from Tamenglong district.
The girl is now doing fine and has no problem, he said, adding that the hospital has conducted 176 open heart surgery and performed device closure in hole in heart from 2015 .
Among 164 device closure heart surgeries performed by the hospital so far, 60 were adult patients who had holes in their hearts as they did not consult doctor for a long time.
One such patient was a 68-year old male whose hole in heart had been closed for longer life, Dr L Shyamkishore said, adding that another 46 years old male patient from Nagaland too underwent surgery at the hospital for closing the hole in his heart.
According to Dr Shyamkishore, Sky Hospital had given complete treatment to 51 patients suffering from heart palpitation and they have stopped taking medication.
Before there was no EPS plus REA sophisticated procedure medical facility in the state and patients have to go outside for treatment but this problem has been solved by Sky Hospital as such patients need not go outside for treatment.
The hospital had also successfully treated few patients who went outside for treatment but failed, he said, adding that Sky Hospital now has facility for high standard heart surgeries.
