AIFB readies 10 point charter of demands

All India Forward Bloc, Manipur State Committee (AIFB, MSC) has passed a 10 point charter of demands with the aim of submitting the same to the Central and State Governments.
Notably, AIFB, MSC has demanded a white paper on the steps taken up to resolve the Indo-Myanmar (Manipur-Myanmar) and Manipur-Nagaland border issue from the Central and State Governments.
The 10 point charter of demands was passed during the 4th State conference of AIFB, MSC held at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai, Imphal West today.
Aside from the demand revolving around the State's border issues, AIFB, MSC has also demanded the State Government to draft proper rules for the Manipur Private School Regulation Act, 2017 and to implement the Act across Manipur and to conduct a legitimate survey to discern the number of people who are 'Below Poverty Line' (BPL) and to provide them free medical treatment, diagnosis and medicine.

Other demands include widespread implementation of the Manipur Preservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, 2014 and to halt the use of agricultural lands for non-agricultural purposes, provisions for better benefits to farmers and to take up extra measures to safeguard Reserved Forest areas in Manipur.
AIFB, MSC also called for the drafting of a policy to facilitate smooth distribution of funds to unemployed citizens in order to empower them to eke out a livelihood, conduct a survey on street vendors of the State and take up steps for their rehabilitation, set up Unorganized Workers' Welfare Board to provide labourers with benefits, put an end to registration of individuals who are not construction workers with the Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board, ensure 200 days of guaranteed wage employment under MGNREGA and to bring back all subsidies previously provided to common citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Khomdram Gyaneswar, general secretary, AIFB, MSC asserted that Manipur is struggling in terms of development due to the scarcity of political parties which genuinely think of people's welfare and carry out their undertakings sincerely and with political will.
The BJP-led Central Government talks about the development and prosperity it has ushered into the land, however, he alleged that several subsidies provided to the common people have been discontinued, including cooking gas.
Stating that AIFB was formed by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in 1938, the general secretary also sought the people's support in the Committee's future endeavours.
The gathering also discussed the current state of India's socio-economic and geo-political condition during the 4th State conference of AIFB, MSC and proceeded to appoint the office bearers of the Committee for the next term.
It may be mentioned that Yurembam Iboyaima, Maibam Nabakishor and Khomdram Gyaneswar were appointed as the chairman, vice-chairman and general secretary of AIFB, MSC respectively.
