10 years RI for two rape convicts

Imphal, December 29 2022:
Two different Courts sentenced two convicted for rape to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and another to 3 years today.
52-year-old Lairenlak-pam Rana and 40-year-old Mayanlambam Jitan alias Kokpei were convicted in two different POCSO cases by the Court of Salam Imocha, Special Judge Fast Track Special Court Number 1 .
A third convict, 38-year-old Arambam Robindro was convicted by Ch Brajachand, Special Judge Fast Track Special Court Number 2 .
Convict Lairenlakpam Rana hails from Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak.
Mayanglambam Jitan hails from Luker Mayai Leikai.
Arambam Robindro hails from Bishnupur Maning Leikai Ward Number 3 .
During the sentence hearing of Arambam Robindro, the Fast Track Court heard that the convict commited aggravated penetrative sexual assault on a minor on October 26, 2014 inside the quarter of a school.
The Court, after perusal of the submissions, ordered convict Arambam Robindro to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years.
The Court also recommended the State Government to provide Rs 8 lakh as compensation to the victim.
In the sentence hearing against Mayanglambam Jitan alias Kokpei, the Court of Salam Imocha heard that the convict had committing aggravated penetrative sexual assault of an 8-year-old minor in February 2019 .
The Court after hearing both sides, sentenced convict Mayanglambam Jitan to 10 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of POCSO Act.
The Court also recommended authorities to provide Rs 1.5 lakh compensation to the victim.
In the sentence hearing against Lairenlakpam Rana, the Court of Salam Imocha Special Judge Fast Track Special Court Number 1 heard that Rana was convicted under Section 366 IPC and POCSO Act for committing sexual assault on November 5, 2016 .
The Court after hearing submissions, sentenced Lairenlakpam Rana to undergo rigorous imprisonment of 3 years under Section 366 IPC.
The Court also recommended Rs 2 lakh as compensation to the victim.
