Fisheries Dept all set for Emoinu Fish Fair

For the first time, the fisheries department will be organising Emoinu Fish Fair on Emoinu Eratpa Numit on January 3, 2023 with the department targeting to produce 2,000 kg of local Sareng and 50,000kg of other fish species at the fair.
Addressing media persons in this regard, fisheries minister H Dingo said that the department will be organising Emoinu Fish fair for the first time under the keen initiative of chief minister N Biren and the department is planning to organise state level fish fair twice a year from next year (2023) onwards.
The fair will open from 9am of January 3, 2023 and all stalls at the fair will have items related with Emoinu Eratpa including vegetables, he said and appealed to people to visit the fair and buy fish and other items.
According to H Dingo, the upcoming Fair will be a big opportunity for fishermen and fisheries department as it will enhance the spirit of fishermen to produce more fishes.
In the interest of public, the department is planning to produce at least 2,000kg of local Sareng and 12 other fish varieties including Pengba, Ngaton, Khabak and Silver carp at the fair and prices will remain same as fixed at Ningol Chakkouba Fish fair, he added.
Regarding prices of fishes fixed for the fair, director (agriculture) H Balkrishna told media persons that common carp below 2 kg will be sold at Rs 210 per kilo and above 2kg between Rs 270 to Rs 350 .
Rohu fish below 1kg will be sold at Rs 220 and above 1kg between Rs 280 to Rs 350 and this rate will be same for Mrigal fish.
Common carp below 1kg will be sold at Rs 200 per kilo and Rs 250-280 for above 1 kilo.
Grass carp fish below 1 kg will be sold at Rs 230 per kilo and Rs 280-350 for above 1 kilo.
Silver carp weighing below 3kg will be sold at Rs 180 per kilo and Rs 200 per kilo for 3kg and above.
Pengba and Khabak weighing below 300gm will be sold at Rs 450 per kilo and Rs 550 for above 300gm while Ngaton will be sold at Rs 450 per kilo, he said, adding that Ngahei above 1kg will be sold at Rs 220 per kilo and Rs 300 per kilo for 3kg and above.
According to H Balkrishna, local Sareng will be sold at Rs 1200 per kilo at the fair while respective prices per kilo for Tunghanbi, Porom and Ukabi are Rs 150, Rs 300 and Rs 350.All these prices were fixed by the government during Ningol Chakkouba Fish fair and there will be no change in the upcoming Emoinu Fish fair, he added.
