Director pitches for modern education system

Asserting that modem education system that suits the needs of the changing world is the key to bring development in a society, education (S) director L Nanda-kumar has stressed the need to adopt a modern education system in the state.
He was attending the inaugural function of a three-day workshop on Paper setting technique and evaluation' organised jointly by Directorate of Education (S) and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) at Johnstone Higher Secondary School, here, on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Nandakumar stressed the need for adapting to the changing global scenario, especially in education sector in order to catch up with the developed countries.
The workshop organised to create awareness on modern education system with the participation of higher sec-ondary and college teachers as resource persons will help share their knowledge and experience in paper setting technique and evaluation with the participants, he said.
Nandakumar also said that the directorate is planning to organise a series of such workshops by inviting national level experts in the future.
COHSEM chairman Dr Ch Sarat, Johnstone Higher Secondary School principal Kh Tulachandra, COHSEM secretary Ch Biren and COHSEM controller of examinations A Surkumar also attended the inaugural function.
