Monitor Lizard rescued

Imphal, September 12 2022:
Locals of Uchiwa Kabui village handed over a rescued Common Indian Monitor Lizard to the Unique Wildlife Protection Committee and staff of Kakching Range Forest today.
The Common Indian Monitor Lizard, locally called 'Hangkok' was found loitering around a house.
Two villagers, Gandhi Kamei and Pongkhunung Golmei rescued the animal, said a press release issued by the Unique Wildlife Protection Committee.
The animal is being kept at veterinary hospital Manipur Zoological garden for treating some wounds the lizard had on its mouth and tail and will be released in its natural habitat once it recovers, added the press release.
