Kakching, September 12 2022:
Japhou Bazar Authority (JBA) has refuted Indigenous People's Forum Manipur (IPFM) president Ashang Kasar's claim of issuing ST certificates to 76 non-locals and providing them benefits under MGNREGS in Chandel district headquarters.
Addressing a press meet at its office on Monday, JBA secretary K Lulu Monsang said that there is no non-local beneficiary in the latest official list.
It is not only the non-locals but there are also no Meetei, Meetei-Pangal or Nepali in the MGNREGS beneficiary list, he said.
While recounting that MGNREGS has been implemented in Chandel district since 2007 with JBA possessing list of job card holders from 2007 to 2012, in which there is no mention of ST in the list, he clarified that 2012, JBA did not receive the job card list due to leadership crisis.
As the updated list of beneficiaries for 2018 is in possession of another group of JBA it is doubtful that the 2018 list has ST tag against the name of the beneficiaries, he maintained and informed that the leadership crisis has also been resolved and SDO Chandel had already recognised the present leadership on April 30 this year.
The new executive committee under the leadership of its chairman Js Angam Anal is in the process of resuming MGNREGS work, which had been stopped after 2012 due to the leadership crisis.
JBA chairman Js Angam Anal also said that the statement of IPFM president is baseless and it can be verified by checking the documents available in the JBA office.
JBA vice-president Saka Hopeson and other executive members were also present during the press meet.
