Chandel, September 12 2022:
The Japhou Bazar Authority has rejected the claims made by the Indigenous Peoples Forum Manipur (IPFM) regarding issuance of ST certificates and job cards to non-locals.
K Lulu Monsang, secretary Japhou Bazar Authority, said this at a press conference held at its office today and added that the new data for MGNREGS for Japhou Bazar has no non-locals.
Even Meitei, Pangal and Nepali who were present in the earlier list have been removed from the new list, he added.
Adding that MGNREGS was launched in Chandel district in 2007 and that none of the job cards issued between 2007 and 2012 marked anyone as Scheduled Tribe or otherwise, Lulu Monsang raised doubt how the said 76 job cards are marked ST.
Lulu Monsang added that the report about issuance of ST certificates to non-locals is also unfounded.
MGNREGS implementation for Japhou Bazar has been on hold since 2017 following an internal crisis between two groups and SDO Chandel had resolved not to recognise both the parties, he added.
However, new leadership of Japhou Bazar Authority were elected on April 30 last by the locals and SDO had recognised the newly elected office bearers.
The Japhou Bazar Authority is currently in the work to implement MGNREGS in Japhou Bazar which has been on hold since 2017 at the earliest under the leadership of its chairman Angam Anal, he added.
