Hard work key to success: MLA Surjakumar

Asserting that hard work is the key to success in one's life, Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar has encouraged students to pay attention to their study to become accomplished individuals in their future lives.
Speaking as chief guest of the 15th DLCYC Award 2022 distribution ceremony organised by District Library Cum Youth Centre (DLCYC) held at Athokpam on Sunday, the MLA emphasised on the role of local clubs and organisations in shaping the society.
He hailed DLCYC for encouraging and honouring meritorious students and successful individuals in the field of art, culture, education and sports and proposed for including people who are working selflessly in the fight against drugs, from next year onwards while assuring his assistance in this regard.
Expressing concern over the increasing issue of drug smuggling, abuse and poppy plantation, he stressed the need for a collective effort from all the 60 MLAs of the state to curb this menace.
The awards distributed during the function were exclusive for students and individuals residing in Khangabok assembly constituency only.
The awards include Leimapokpam Muhindro Award for highest mark scorer in HSE Biology & Chemistry subjects; Changamayum Harimohon Memorial Award for overall topper in HSE science stream; Takhellambam Nageshwar and Nungshi Devi Award for top three overall mark scorers in HSLCE; Athokpam Bira and Tombimacha Devi Memorial Award for CBSE Class 10 topper; Leimapokpam Khomdoncha Memorial Award for senior citizens; Mayengbam Kaminibabu Memorial Award for NEET-UG topper; and Thongam Babudhon Memorial Award for medal winners in state, national and international level sports events.
Altogether 32 students of HSLCE 2022, 21 students of CSE 2022, seven students of CBSE Class 10 examina tion, three senior citizens, two teachers with PhD de gree and 21 sportspersons were awarded cash prizes, shawls, citations and mementos during the event.
