Many decry disruption in Khoirom Minor Industrial Estate

Denouncing the disruption caused by some individuals/organisations in the functioning of Plywood factories and sawmills in Khoirom Minor Industrial Estate (MIE), a public meeting was held today at Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai Multipurpose Community Hall.
The meeting was jointly organised by local clubs of Yairipok Khoirom namely YDC, KYWO, YUDO, NNP, Lai Committee and Khoirom Meira Paibi.
Speaking on the occasion, Lai Committee assistant secretary, Telem Budhi highlighted the resolutions taken during the meeting including repairing of the road by owners of Plywood Factories & Sawmills operating in Khoirom MIE, use of Silent Generator to reduce noise pollution, control emission of smoke, factories to remain closed from 6.30pm to 6 am, and engagement of 50 percent workers from the locality.

He continued that the local clubs, Meira Paibi and CSOs also decided to fend off any opposition to the resolutions taken on Khoirom MIE.
The public meeting was attended by Wangkhem Zilla Parishad nominee, Kh Sobha; Leirongthel Ningel Gram Panchayat Pradhan nominee, S Kumar; KYWA secretary, N Shakton; MNP Lai Committee secretary, B Robindro Sharma; and Meira Paibi, Haobam Ibeton among others.
Placards with the slogans, "We Support Khoirom MIE", "Do not relocate MIE from Khoirom", "Do not disrupt development process", etc were displayed at the meeting.
It may be mentioned that the "JAC Against The Establishing of The Khoirom MIE In Residential Area", staged a protest on September 4 demanding the Government to close down/ relocate the Minor Industrial Estate from Yairipok Mathak Leikai.
