Tribal bodies decry threat to political workers

Churachandpur, March 09 2022:
Paite Tribe Council (PTC), Kuki Inpi-Churachandpur (KIC), United Zou Organisation (UZO GHQ), Simte Tribe Council (STC) and Mizo People s Convention (MPC), Manipur have expressed regret over the threats and deadline notices issued by some armed organisations to several political party workers and supporters.
In a joint statement on Wednesday, the five organisations stated that all citizens of India have the constitutional rights to choose party and candidate of their choice and work for the same, adding it is expected that everyone respects these solemn rights.
The tribal bodies then appealed to all concerned to refrain from any post-poll intimidation and violence for the sake of peace and tranquillity in all assembly constituencies in Churachandpur district, while warning anyone who resorts to such postpoll violence shall be dealt with utmost seriousness.
They further appealed to all to bury the hatchet with the end of the election process.
