Rape case of a minor girl : Special Court POCSO Imphal East accepts final closure report

The Special Court POCSO Imphal East accepted the final closure report submitted by the IO of the case stating the Sanasam Malemnganba @ Nganba, main accused of the alleged rape case of a minor girl has expired and there is no prima facie evidence against the co-accused Laishram Tangba @ Chinglensana.
The Court ordered to discharge the co-accused from the case.
The final report was submitted before the Court on 17 February and the Court issued notice to the complainant of the case and co-accused to appear before the Court on March 7 .
The Court order also mentioned that the main accused of the case has expired and the co-accused is discharged from the liability of the case.
It may be mentioned that the main accused Sanasam Malemnganba @ Nganba (24 yrs) s/o Inao of Sawombung VDF post was released on bail in connection with the case and was found dead near Sajiwa Jail with injury marks on his head, face and body on July 5 last year while he was out on bail.
The JAC formed in connection with the suspicious death of Sanasam Malemnganba alleged that he was called out from his home by Khundrakpam Nanao of Sawombung Thongkhong.
Also the main accused was remanded into judicial custody on March 1st week 2020 under POCSO Act while co- accused Laishram Tangba was released on bail in connection with the rape case of a minor girl at Nongada Maning Leikai (Santipur) Haripat on the night of February 26, 2020 .
And during the preliminary interrogation the minor victim stated that she was sexually assaulted by Malemnganba and no one else was involved.
