Workshop, webinar mark International Women's Day

International Women's Day was celebrated in the state by various institutions and organisations with activities such as workshop and webinar, Reckitt under its Durex India's 'The Birds and Bees Talk (TBBT)' programme in collaboration with Plan India and Ya_All celebrated International Women's Day by organising a workshop at Pari Imom Sindam-Shang Girls' Higher Secondary School here on Tuesday.
In a statement, Reckitt and Plan India stated that the workshop aimed at initiating conversations on the theme 'Break The Bias' to promote a gender-equal world amongst school children, youth and adolescents by focusing on the five pillars of the programme -Awareness, Consent, Protection, Equity and Inclusion.
The statement continued that event was attended by ZEO Sucheta Khumukcham as chief guest.
Meanwhile, National Sports University (NSU) Manipur, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala jointly organised a webinar in connection with the celebration of International Women's Day on Wednesday.
The webinar held under the theme 'Gender Equality Today for Sustainable Tomorrow' was participated by four-time Olympian Padma Shri Shiny Wilson, Padma Shri N Kunjarani Devi, Olympian and Arjuna awardee Ashwini Nachappa, Asian Games gold medallist and Arjuna awardee Hima Das along with UN Women Consultant on Gender Responsive Policy Senegal Moksda Partob, US Olympic Hall of Fame professor Darlene Kluka, University of Philippines research director and sport psychologist associate professor Dr Maria M Guinto, ISCPES president Prof Rosa Lopez de D'Amico, retired District and Session Judge A Noutuneshwori, Impulse NGO Network founder and chairperson Hasina and former Imphal Free Press resident editor Chitra Ahanthem.
NSU VC RC Mishra also attended the webinar as chief guest, while SAI LNCPE Trivandrum principal and regional director Dr G Kishore was present as guest of honour.
On the other hand, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) Department celebrated International Women's Day at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the programme, additional chief secretary (RD&PR) MS Khan informed that the department will celebrate the women's day for one week during which it will felicitate various women for their major role in successful implementation of MGNREGS Act in the state.
The function was also attended by deputy secretary (RD&PR) Lalrobul Fimate.
