Many extend help to Rakesh Naorem, victim of poll violence at Wangjing Tentha

Many private individuals and organisations of the State have stepped up to provide assistance to the family of noted social and cultural activist Rakesh Naorem from Tentha Khongbal whose house was gutted in a fire in an unfortunate incident during the night of March 4 around 10:30 pm.
Film Forum Manipur, Indigenous Manipuri Martial Arts Academy (IMMAA), Brahmapur Imphal, international painter Konthoujam Maikel Meetei, campaigner for a free and fair election, Manikanta Mutum and social activist Naba Nongthongbam provided assistance in the form of cash, clothes, essential food items and other daily commodities to the family of Rakesh Naorem.
Around 8:30 am this morning, S Mangoljao Singh, Chairman, Film Forum Manipur also personally visited Rakesh Naorem and his family who had taken refuge at a house in the neighbouring village and partook in providing aid to the family.

IMMAA Legal Advisor Advocate Kh Iboyaima and Chungkham Ranbir strongly condemned this act of arson.
Chungkham Ranbir lauded Rakesh Naorem for his various contributions in the field of cultural and social activism and film making.
He called it heinous that some miscreants burned down his house along with that of his siblings solely instigated by political elements.
He deemed the whole incident as being inhumane. Kh Iboyaima stated that there has been an increase in the occurrence of election related violence in Tentha and expressed the urgent need for appropriate lawful action in order to curb the incidence of such violent activities.
Konthoujam Maikel Meetei strongly condemned the incident and shared that he was also a victim of Pourabi bomb blast which has resulted in him now wearing a prosthetic leg.
Manikanta Mutum also decried the incident.
It may be noted that supporters of INC candidate Moirangthem Hemanta allegedly threw a petrol bomb at the house of Rakesh Naorem, who is a supporter of BJP candidate Paonam Brojen of Wangjing Tentha AC .
