Imphal, March 09 2022:
As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD & PR), Government of Manipur organised International Women's Day celebration at Imphal Hotel, North AOC today.
The programme was graced by Additional Chief Secretary, RD & PR, MH Khan and Deputy Secretary, RD & PR, Lalrobul Fimate as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, MH Khan said that the International Women's Day celebration has been organised as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Highlighting that the women of the State have contributed majorly in every aspect of the society, he said that one should acknowledge their umpteen efforts and should give them their due recognition.

He also called for collective efforts to empower women.
National Sports University (NSU) Manipur and Sports Authority of India, Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Trivandrum jointly organized a webinar on the theme 'Gender Equality Today for Sustainable Tomorrow' to celebrate International Women's Day 2022 .
During the webinar, four times Olympian Padma Shri Shiny Wilson, renowned weightlifter and Padma Shri Kunjarani Devi, Olympian and Arjuna awardee Ashwini Nachappa, World U-20 Championships and Asian Games Gold Medallist, Arjuna awardee Hima Das and eminent women personalities from different walks of life presented their views on the theme of the webinar, said a press release by NSU, Manipur.
The Vice Chancellor of NSU, RC Mishra, IAS (Retired) and Principal, SAI LNCPE, Trivandrum and Regional Director, SAI LNCPE Region, Dr G Kishore graced the occasion as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, RC Mishra said that to realize gender equality, sports can become a great tool in the arsenal of sustainable development.
Kunjarani Devi appealed to all the young women to be motivated and deliver their duties and responsibilities efficiently.
Hima Das stressed on the slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' and revamped it to 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Beti Khelo', added the press release.
The Adhivakta Parishad, Manipur too in association with Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Manipur State organized a programme at Model English School, Ghari on March 8 on the occasion of International Women's Day.
As per a press release from the Parishad, L Sanatombi Devi, president of BMS, Manipur spoke on the topic "Role of Manipur Women in social Change" .
As an extended programme, a programme on the topic "Basics of law" was held at Royal Academy of law, Oinam where I Meena Devi, Assistant Professor, Royal Academy of Law, Oinam attended as resource person.
I Jugeshwor Singh, former principal, Royal Academy of Law, Eliza Maisnam, Principal Royal Academy of Law and S Rupachandra Singh, Additional Advocate General, Manipur graced the occasion as the presidium members.
Also Adhivakta Parishad, Manipur in association with Vivekananda Kendra Manipur, Bivagh organized a programme on March 7 on the topic 'The vision of Swami Vivekananda on Women' at Sagolband, added the press release.
