MSCW conducts spot inquiry, locals condemn

A team of Mani-pur State Commission for Women (MSCW) led by its chairperson Ulka Salam, on Saturday, conducted spot enquiry at the residence of one Naorem (ongbi) Manglembi at Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai, Airport Road, who was allegedly assaulted by assistant com-mandant of a central armed force named Daniel Hmar on Friday.
While condemning assault of the elderly woman, the chairperson also assured necessary action so as to punish the culprit as per the law.
Meanwhile, strongly condemning the misuse of power and position to exact revenge on two residents of Sangaiprou by the assistant commandant and his threat to the whole village, the lo-cal residents of Sangaiprou organised a protest on Sat-urday demanding appropri-ate action against the officer.
The protest demonstra-tion was organised at San-gaiprou Mamang Leikai community hall on Satur-day.
Interacting with media, Sangaiprou Apunba Nupi Lup president Sanasam Radheshyam said that fol-lowing the assault, Tokpam Malemnganba is undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity.
Besides, Daniel Hmar also threatened the whole village with the exact word "I will turn your Sangaiprou Leikai into ashes in five minutes".
A person without any integ-rity and sense of duty has no place in a uniformed service, she said while demanding appropriate action against the officer.
She further said that they have submitted writ-ten representation to the Governor, chief minister and authority of the cen-tral force demanding ac-tion against the officer.
An emergency meeting of the local club and Meira Paibi held on Friday had also re-solved to expel the assistant commandant, who is also a resident of Sangaiprou, she added.
