Imphal, May 13 2023:
Challenging the demand of separate administration being raised by a group of 10 non Naga tribal MLAs, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has asked the Centre and the State Government to take up action against those who scheme to highten the tension in Manipur.
The joint statement of the 10 Kuki MLAs on May 12 is akin to demanding the disintegration of Manipur.
Stronglyu opposing the demand of a separate administration, AMUCO asked the signatories of the press statement to clarify whether they were forced to raise the demand or did it so willingly.
AMUCO further asked the political parties concerned to verify whether the demand of separate administration was raised at party level or independently by the 10 MLAs to take up necessary action.
If the political parties don't have a hand in raising the contentious demand then they must take action against its MLAs, AMUCO said.
The Organisation claimed that the Kuki MLAs may irresponsibly say that they didn't put any signature in the statement or they did so to calm the Kuki armed groups and the people in fixture.
Saying that the 10 MLAs must be held accountable for scheming to disintegrate Manipur if they indeed want separate administration, AMUCO claimed that the ethnic clash which rocked the State since May 3 might be orchestrated by these 10 Kuki MLAs to fulfil their political aspirations.
"Many communal riots have taken place in Manipur and India but the representatives of the parties in conflict never demanded separate administration openly," AMUCO claimed.
laiming that the resolution taken by the 10 Kuki MLAs undermine the initiatives taken up such as formation of Peace Committee by different sections of people to restore normalcy, AMUCO alleged that it is not only the Kukis who have been made homeless or lost their family members in the cycle of violence which began on May 3 .
The Organisation went on to claim that number of Meetei people taking shelter at relief camps is far greater than Kukis.
Claiming that the reasons given by the Kuki MLAs for demanding separate administration are all blatant lies, AMUCO said that they will face all threats which challenge the unity and integrity of Manipur.
Reminding that rally organised by AMUCO on August '4, 1997 which - is considered as the largest in South East Asia was to protect Manipur, the Organisation reminded the Kuki MLAs that AMUCO and other like minded organisations have been facing all threats put up against the unity and integrity of the State for years and will continue to do so in future.
