Imphal, May 13 2023:
There are no countries which don't have an ethnic issue, CorCom claimed, alleging that special assistance must be given to smaller communities to protect their identities, lands, languages, customs etc.
Like in People's Republic of China, minority ethnic population contributes in building many other stronger Nations and the same needs to be done in Manipur too, CorCom claimed.
It further claimed that Kangleipak was an independent kingdom with a history spanning over 2000 years even before the formation of India.
It, however, is truly unfortunate that a section of people from hill districts believe in the agenda of establishing a separate State by disintegrating a small State like Manipur, CorCom al- leged.
Claiming that there are as many as 90 entities with a similar land or population size or both like Israel and Estonia, CorCom alleged that there must be a reason why the voice of the people of Manipur is unheard in the global stage.
Saying that the future of Manipur lies with the 39 communities residing in Manipur, CorCom added that shaping the future of the Manipur is not the sole responsibility of only one or two communities.
Claiming that the recent violence in Manipur was avoidable, CorCom alleged that people of Manipur failing to identify who their brothers and foes are is one prime reason for the conflict among the indigenes.
Further claiming that India has been using different tactics to suppress the freedom struggle of Manipur and one of its favourites is divide and rule, CorCom alleged that the inter-community conflicts such as Naga-Kuki, Meetei-Meetei Pangal and Kuki-Paite clashes which have taken place in Manipur were all the doings of successive Indian Governments.
Saying that none will gain from the conflict 'among ourselves,' CorCom said that the solution for the conflict between sections of people has to be brought 'by us and us only' .
CorCom takes all the Kangleichas as the warriors of Manipur who have been fighting against 'colonial India to regain our lost independence,' the statement alleged and added that a life of every Manipur is precious to them.
CorCom went on to claim that the 'freedom struggle' of Manipur will go backward if there is conflict among the Manipuris.
Appealing to every Manipur to take part in the 'freedom struggle' so as to build a better and peaceful Manipur, CorCom further appealed to all Manipuris to understand the agenda and exercise restraint.
It further appealed to all civil society organisations, community leaders, youth and students to bring peace in Manipur.
Lastly, CorCom prayed for all those who died in the course of recent conflict to rest in peace.
