Traders in Imphal have urged the State Government and the agitators along the lmphal-Dimapur Highway to provide safe passage for the stranded goods laden vehicles to reach Imphal at the earliest.
Addressing a press conference held today at Manipur Press Club , Majorkhul this afternoon, Shanta Nahakpam who spoke on behalf of the traders in Imphal and Manipur claimed that there are over 250 goods laden vehicles being stranded a long the Imphal-DimapurHigh-wayowingtotheblockageatthesamehighwaybytheagitators.Hesaid that around 30 t0 40 items of essential commodities,including medical items, have already been running out of stock in the State due to the blockage on the Imphal-Dimapur Highway.
He continued that the stranding of over 250 goods laden trucks and vehicles along the same highway has led to the shortage of over 30 essential commodities in the State at present.
Conveying that the traders in Imphal had consulted the State Government besides meeting the Commissioner of CAF&PDtoday to prevent stranding of vehicles which ferry goods, including the essential commodities in the State, Shanta appealed the agitators and all to give the safe passage for the goods laden vehicles to reach Imphal.
He went on to state that the essential commodities and all goods are to be transported in all districts only after they reach Imphal.
While claiming that the non-allowance/blockage of the vehicles along the highway will only result to the shortage of all commodities and items to all communties.
Shanta urged all communities to Imphal.
He added that that the traders in Imphal have beat working for the betterment of all the people in the State, irrespective of where they belong to .
