Imphal, May 13 2023:
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has urged Governor Anuisiya Uikey to convene a special session of the Assembly to discuss ways to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
A statement issued by Paonam Khaba, general secretary, Manipur People's Party (MPP) expressed belief that the 'special Assembly' will be successful in finding a way to resolve the conflict and restoring peace.
The statement also touched upon the call for a separate administration made by ten MLAs and opined that this is a move to disintegrate Manipur.
MPP also decried the silence of the State BJP when several of its MLAs/Minis-ters have openly espoused 'anti-National sentiments'.
The statement added that BJP leaders must clarify the party's stance and resolve on the matter before the public.
Going on the affensive against SoO cadres, MPP stated that it will not sit idly by when innocent civilians come under attack and assured to stand at the forefront to safeguard the people.
The statement reiterated its appeal to the Governor to convene a special Assembly session before the current situation takes a turn for the worse.
Trouble started after the Tribal Solidarity March organised by ATSUM in the hill districts on May 3 and it soon spread to other places, claiming several lives.
