MPCC pays tribute to Rajiv Gandhi

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed the 78th birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Congress Bhawan here on Saturday and paid fitting tribute to the late Congress leader.
MPCC president K Meghachandra and CLP leader O Ibobi Singh led the party leaders and workers in paying rich floral tribute to portrait of Rajiv Gandhi.
In his speech at the observance function, O Ibobi said that Rajiv Gandhi was the youngest Prime Minister of India who put enormous efforts for bring ing a united India and establish good relation with neighbouring countries.
His demise was not only the loss for Congress party but also for the entire people of the country, he said.
Later, Congress leaders and workers took a pledge to follow the path chosen by late Rajiv Gandhi.
Mention may be made here that Rajiv Gandhi was killed by suicide bombers of the then Sri Lankan terrorist group LTTE on May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.
