Nepali Language Day celebrated at Kalapahar

Nepali Sahitya Parishad (NSP) Manipur in collaboration with Sunrise Gorkha Development Youth Club Kalapahar observed the 31st Nepali Language Day as 31st Bhasa Diwas at Aanandeshwar Mandir campus, Upper Kalapahar, Kangpokpi District, today.
In a release, NSP Manipur informed that the Parishad has been observing Language Day every year to commemorate the inclusion of Nepali, Manipuri and Konkani languages in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution on August 20, 1992.Dr Ganga Prasad (GP) Prasain, Vice Chancellor Tripura Central University and Dr Tankanath Khatiwoda.
head of Hindi Department Presidency College Motbung attended the event as presidium members.
It was presided by Bhawani Adhikari, president NSP Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prasain spoke on how Indian Gorkhas struggled for inclusion of Nepali Language in the 8th Schedule.
He also encouraged the students to focus more on study and pursue Nepali language in higher studies.
Working as a Vice Chancellor at Tripura Central University, he included Diploma in Manipuri, Diploma in Nepali and PG in Manipuri Classical dances as his main achievement till date.
Dr Thankanath Khatiwada highlighted the value, importance and scope of Nepali Language.
Poets meet was also held during the programme wherein Sita Devi Chhetri, Prabin Nepal, Mohan Gautam and Sunil Limbu recited their poems.
Events like cultural dance, Gorkha Khukri dance, cultural show and cultural display were also conducted.
Moreover, NSP Manipur felicitated meritorious students who secured good marks in this year's class X and XII examination conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM/CBSE.
NSP Manipur also conferred language activist Asha Rani Rai Memorial Award to Durga Khatiwada of Assam.
The programme was attended by representatives of Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union, All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union, Nepali Sanskriti Surakshya Parishad Manipur, Bharatiya Gorkha Parishangh Manipur, executive members NSP, formal executive members NSP and advisors of NSP.
Sunrise Gorkha Development Youth Club Middle Kalapahar, Women Society Kalapahar, Ex-servicemen association and village authorities of Kalapahar area.
