Mid-Day Meal Workers' Union, Manipur has demanded the state government to release the pending honorarium of mid-day meal workers at the earliest.

In-spite of such meagre payment, the government has been withholding their monthly honorarium since October 2020, she said.
The union has come to learn that the Centre had released a total fund of Rs 25 crore for MDM workers on two instances but the state government has been withholding their honorarium.
Some states have even enhanced the wages of MDM workers up to Rs 10,000 and up to Rs 20,000 in some states but the Manipur government is still sticking to the Rs 1000 monthly wages, she said, while terming the low honorarium as well as failure to release the same as a violation of their rights.
Y Indrani also alleged that government officials and school management committees are threatening many MDM workers or even terminating their services for staging cease work strike and urged the education minister to look into the matter.
