Imphal, August 20 2022:
The Kuki Tribal Union (KTU) has issued a clarification regarding news reports in dailies and social media platforms about surrender of 8 KTU members on Friday to Halflong Battalion of 11th Assam Rifles (AR) in Assam.
A release issued by NSCN-IM ministry of Information & Publicity quoted KTU as saying that surrendered members are not members of KTU.
As per official records they are not listed as members of KTU and as such it is the handiwork of the AR to gain unqualified credit out of the surrender ceremony.
The release also stated that one tatar from KTU, Doulalsem Khongsai surrendered to 11th AR on June 16, 2022 which is the latest surrender on record.
It is believed that Doulalsem is working hand in glove with 11th AR to tarnish the good name of KTU by making the eight persons surrendered as KTU members, it said.
"Doulalsem Khongsai is a person of dubious distinction who gets himself elected as tatar from the backdoor, without going through official process to be proposed, endorsed and approved by KTU.
Morally on the wrong side from the beginning he didn't think twice as he himself surrendered to the AR," the release said.
