Chandel protests threat to voters

A large number of people took out a protest rally in Chandel district headquarters on Friday denouncing the alleged threat and intimidation by NSCN-IM kilonser and 41-Chandel AC Political Affairs Committee in-charge retired Major D Johny Lamkang to the people and asking them to vote for BJP.
The protest rally started from Panchai village around 10am and culminated at Chandel bazaar.
During the rally, protestors held placards inscribed with slogans like 'No External Interference', 'We want Free and Fair Election', Go Back D Johny Lamkang, PAC Member 41-Chandel' and 'Make Chandel Unity Again' and shouted slogans like 'We support NPF' and 'Go Back D Johny Lamkang' .
A team of Chandel police led by additional SP Amarjit Lamabam blocked the rallyists at DC Lamkhai Chandel and convinced them to make a U-turn.
A woman who participated in the rally told media persons that she voluntarily took part in the rally in protest against 41-Chandel PAC member/in-charge D Johny Lamkang's use of false propaganda to suppress Naga issue and asking people to support BJP.
She alleged that D Johny Lamkang threatened some villagers of Liwa Sarei to give vote to BJP and he must be removed from 41-Chandel AC PAC in chargepost.
The woman also said that she will support NPF for bringing tribal unity, peace and protect tribal rights.
She also said that people of Chandel want free and fair election.
