46 candidates file papers in Thoubal, Kakching

Thoubal, February 11 2022:
Filing of nomination papers for the second phase assembly election scheduled on March 5 concluded on Friday and 13 candidates submitted their nomination papers to their respective ROs on the last day in Thoubal and Kakching districts.
With this, a total of 46 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for contesting the election from different constituencies in Thoubal and Kakching districts.
The candidates who filed their nominations in Thoubal district on Friday are Kangabam Jadumani (JD-U), O Haridas (NCP), L Dhomen (independent) and Abdul Helim (Ind) for Wangkhem AC; Dr Irshad Hussain (independent) and Md Abdul Manal (Ind) for Lilong A/C; and RJSP candidate M Totomsana for Heirok A/C.In Kakching district, Yengkhom Surchandra (BJP) and N Nabachandra (JD-U) filed nominations for Kakching A/C; Usham Deven (BJP) for Wabagai A/C; E Dijamani (JD-U) and N Sanjay (RPI-A) for Hiyanglam A/C; and independent candidate K Muktasana for Sugnu A/C.Of the total 46 candidates in Kakching and Thoubal districts, five submitted nominations for contesting election from Lilong A/C, four from Thoubal A/C, eight from Wangkhem A/C, three each from Khangabok A/C and Wangjing-Tentha A/C, four from Heirok A/C, six from Kakching A/C, five each from Wabagai A/C and Hiyanglam A/C and three candidates from Sugnu A/C.Scrutiny of nominations will be done on February 14 and the last date of withdrawal is February 16.Speaking to media persons after filing his nomination, Y Surchandra pledged to work for ensuring self-sustainable economy, generating employment for unemployed youth and to make a developed state.
He urged the people for ensuring a free and fair conduct of the election.
Noting out that some pockets in Kakching A/C namely Bijoypur, Sora, Irengband and Pallel are somewhat underdeveloped, Surchandra assured of focusing in the said areas for development in all sectors if he got elected.
While stating that people still trust BJP, he expressed hope that BJP government will return in the state.
Meanwhile, Usham Deben said that people of his Wabagai constituency will surely support BJP upon seeing the development brought by the party in the state during its five years of governance.
BJP will win 40 seats in the upcoming state assembly election, he continued, while assuring further development in the constituency if he won the election.
On the other hand, Naorem Nabachandra assured of providing employment to unemployed youth, maintaining sound economy, bringing development in agriculture and providing potable drinking water.
