CRPF football tourney concludes

Imphal, February 11 2022:
A two-day CRPF Kasa-Koso (friendly) football tournament-2022, organised by 109 Bn CRPF under the aegis of IGP, M&N Sector CRPF at Shajouba village, Centre Ground, Mao Gate concluded on Thursday.
The aim of the tournament was to promote spirit of sports and physical fitness and to strengthen the bond between the security forces and villagers, a CRPF release said on Friday.
A total of 8 teams from local clubs participated in the tournament and the final match was played between Tungam Football Club and Shajouba Football Club in the presence of chief guest Bal Krishna Ram, commandant-109 Bn, D Athili, Shajouba village chairman, Lowli Kaisii Shajouba, village secretary, A Visapunii, AC of CRPF, and other officials of 109 BN CRPF.
Civil dignitaries and audience comprising the villagers of nearby villages witnessed the title match where Tungam Football Club registered a 1-0 win over Shajouba Football Club.
The valedictory function was addressed bythe commandant-109 Bn.
He congratulated both winning team and runners-up for their sportsmanship and discipline during the course of competition and handed out the prizes/ trophies and sports kits to them.
In his speech, the chief guest emphasised that sports is an extremely important component for the overall development of our nation, adding, "It's time we inspire young talent, give them top notch infrastructure and training of the highest level.
We need to inculcate a strong spirit of participation in sports that enables players to demonstrate their true potential".
Clubs members of adjoining areas and distinguished guests present on the occasion praised the unit commandant's concern for the people of the area; the release further said.
