Independent candidate withdraws nomination

Kangpokpi, February 11 2022:
Independent candidate Thangminlen Kipgen on Friday withdrew his nomination from the Kangpokpi assembly constituency for the forthcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Election, 2022 .
With his withdrawal, three candidates - Nemcha Kipgen (BJP), Ngamkhohen Kipgen (INC) and Soshim Gurung (JD-U) are left in the fray to contest in the Kangpokpi AC for the first phase election to be held on February 28.It is worth mentioning that Haokholet Kipgen (independent), Lamtinthang Haokip (INC), Ngamthang Haokip (BJP), L Johny Gangmei (JD-U), K Lhouvum (NPP) and Th Sanglou Maram (independent) are in the fray in Saitu AC.
On the other hand, candidates in Saikul AC - Kenn Raikhan (independent), Chungkhokai Doungel (independent), Ch Ajang Khongsai (JD-U), Yamthong Haokip (BJP), Jamchinlen Lunkim (RPI), Kimneo Haokip Hangshing (KPA), Seikholal Haokip (NPP) and Lhingkim.
Haokip (INC) will fight the contest.
All together 17 candidates will be contesting the election in Kangpokpi district with eight vying for Saikul AC, three Kangpokpi AC and six in Saitu AC.
There are 166 poll ing stations in three assembly constituencies in the district out of which 56 are in Saikul AC, 42 in Kangpokpi AC and 68 in Saitu AC.
Meanwhile, on late Friday evening, general observer Probhudutta David Pradhan, expenditure observer Manish Kumar Chavda and police observer Sarat Kaviraj met with representatives of candidates to discuss on election expenditure at the conference hall of the DC Complex, Kangpokpi district.
