Kakching, February 11 2022:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chandel District has strongly condemned National People's Party (NPP) for its accusations that the two BJP candidates in 41-Chandel and 42-Tengnoupal constituencies are being supported by Suspension of Operation (SoO) groups/organisations and that workers of NPP are facing threats.
Addressing a press meet at BJP office near Pallel town on Friday, BJP Chandel District president Sk Angshel Lamkang said that BJP is a well-organised, human value-based party, whose politics has been to make policy programmes for the welfare of people.
BJP Chandel including the party candidates and workers of Tengnoupal and Chandel ACs are disciplined and have been helping the people throughout the pandemic, which is a well-known fact among the locals.
"Recently, NPP made-claims in the media that the BJP candidates in the two constituencies are supported by SoO groups/organisations and further threatening the workers of NPP, which is false.
In this regard, a complaint has been filed to ECI," he informed, while stating that the two BJP candidates are not associated with any unlawful organisations.
"It would be better for NPP to focus its attention on serving the people instead of making such slanderous statements," Angshel contended.
The Mandal president then stressed the need for electing capable candidates who can guide and ensure a good future for the succeeding generations.
People have the ability to discern who is good or bad, he said and urged for ensuring a free and fair Election so as to help bring peace and development in the state.
BJP Chandel VP Ch Lalpu Aimol, who also attended the press meet, refuted the claims made by NPP as baseless statements, stating that a politician and a proscribed outfit cannot mix together like water and oil.
He then said that NPP is likely to have made the statements out of desperation and fear of losing the polls in all 20 constituencies.
"The move is like a snake shaking its tail before dying.
One should refrain from speaking ill of others if he/she has come forward to serve the people through politics.
People will not take such acts kindly," he advised.
