SFs rescue kidnapped drivers

Jiribam, February 11 2022:
Security forces rescued two drivers of trucks carrying FCI rice, who were allegedly abducted by militants from New Keiphundai village, Tamenglong along NH 37 on Thursday.
The drivers on Friday have been identified as M Inao Khan (29), son of M Khamba Mia of Lakhipur district in Assam and K Brajamani Singh (65) son of K Suresh Singh of Poiroukhongjin, Imphal" .
Speaking to media persons at Jiribam District Police conference hall on Friday, SP Ksh Rabikumar informed that upon receiving information about the abduction of two FCI truck driver by militants, the district police conducted rescue operation at New Keiphundai, Old Keiphundai, Sabughat and Babukhal areas since Thursday morning.
The rescue operation was also supported by 39 Assam Rifles.
Teams of commando, Jiribam district police and 39 AR also conducted similar operation in the hill areas near the bank of Jiri River and other suspected areas.
During the operation, the security forces rescued the drivers from a jungle area near Keiphundai village around 12.10 pm Friday.
The abductors escaped by taking advantage of thick jungle, he added.
As the area is under Tousem sub-division in Tamenglong district, the case has been handed over to Tousem police station, the SP continued.
The press conference was also attended by Jiribam district police officers among others.
