Election Observers review poll preparedness

With a view to ensure a free, fair, inclusive and inducement-free election in Bishnupur, Manish Aggarwal, IAS General Observer for Nambol, Oinam and Bishenpur ACs, Sahab Singh, General Observer for Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi, Sanjib Kumar Narzary, IPS Police Observer for Bishnupur, Akta Jain, IRS Expenditure Observer for Nambol, Oinam, Bishenpur ACs and Mahesh G Jiwade, IRS Expenditure Observer for Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi ACs today interacted with the entire election teams of the district.
The interaction was held at the conference hall of the DC complex attended by DEO Bishnupur L Bikram, SP Bishnupur, ADC, AC to DC, ROs and District Nodal Officers.
During the meeting, the Election Observers shared their observations on the operational aspects of poll preparedness in the district concerning expenditure monitoring, functions of MCMC, activities of Flying Squad Teams, SUVIDHA app for candidates and law and order situation, among others.
The Election Observers also instructed all district election officials to maintain neutrality and provide a level playing field for all candidates for a free and fair election.
Earlier in the day, the Election Observers also interacted with candidates and their representatives.
Assuring equal opportunities, transparency and fairness to all candidates, the Election Observers urged the candidates to win the confidence of the people within the legal provisions and guidelines laid down by ECI.
They also assured candidates that they will always be available for any kind of election-related grievances and feedback.
Meanwhile, with no candidates withdrawing their nomination by the deadline which ended today, the final number of candidates for the 6 constituencies in Bishnupur district remained unchanged at 22 .
The district will go to polls on the revised first phase of polling on February 28 .
