Imphal, January 05 2022:
JCILPS media co-convener Warepam Second has demanded that the government strictly enforces ILPS in the state.
Addressing a press meet held at JCILPS office on Wednesday, Second asserted that ILPS is the right of the indigenes of the state to protect themselves and is not targeted against any particular community.
ILP system was enforced in the state from January 1, 2020 after prolonged agitation and sacrifice including death of Sapam Robinhood.
No community has been barred from entering the state.
People coming from outside the state are only asked to acquire a permit for harmonious co-habitation, he noted.
Warepam Second continued that in such situation it is very unfortunate that an organisation called Amra Bangalee has filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India against ILPS.
JCILPS strongly condemns such action and will face it head on.
Prime Minister, Union home minister and chief minister should resolve the matter at the earliest, he stressed and cautioned that if the issue is not resolved then the indigenes of Manipur may have to resort to intense form of protest and the government should bear the responsibility in case any untoward incident happens.
The press conference was also attended by JCILPS co-conveners Luwangcha Chingkhei, Thiyam Saratchandra, Kheiruddin Saha Moijingmayum and JCILP Women Wing convener RK Bino.
